To me this song has a very deep meaning that reflects on society and us as humans.
I find these things we love, be they people or animals, etc and we love them so much we want to keep them with us.
We want them to live in our house, we want to immerse them in our lives and the things we do and say etc.
By doing this we end up killing the thing we love about them, their originality. We make them just like us and then eventually have to move on to the next "pet".
