This is not a hard song to interpret - it's just about the emotional difficulties of a relationship. Specifically, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's relationship.

"We jumped, never asking why We kissed, I fell under your spell" - These lines reference the beginning of the relationship, where everything seems wonderful and flawless and perfect the instant you first kiss. She's blind to everything else. However, harder times are coming...

"Don’t you ever say I just walked away I will always want you" - She believes she put in effort to salvage the relationship and did not want to lose it, and that she still "wants" her partner.

"I came in like a wrecking ball I never hit so hard in love" - She thinks she was a big event in her partner's love life and got him emotionally invested.

"All I wanted was to break your walls All you ever did was break me Yeah, you wreck me" - She wanted to break down his emotional barriers but failed to, and feels that he hurt her for trying.

"I put you high up in the sky And now, you’re not coming down It slowly turned, you let me burn And now, we’re ashes on the ground" - She adored and looked up to him and has not ceased to even now that it's over. But as their relationship went downhill he made no effort to stop it and let her get hurt. Because of this neither one of them is happy and their happiness has been reduced to ashes.

"Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung Left me crouching in a blaze and fall" - This is not proper English which makes it difficult to decipher. Go back to school, MIley.

"I never meant to start a war I just wanted you to let me in And instead of using force I guess I should’ve let you in" - By trying to break down his barriers and get him to show vulnerability she caused larger problems than she anticipated and grew frustrated by this. She tried to use force but never actually opened herself up in return, which she realizes she should have.

Pretty dull actually. Sounds like every failed relationship to me.
