The lyrics to this song really resonate with me. I very recently had to end a relationship with someone I really cared for and loved, and I feel like this song is speaking exactly what I feel right now.

As much as I would love to go back to him and tell him that I do love him, I cannot. The only thing I can hope for is that he will move on and be happy without me, just like I'm hoping for myself.

"So when she calls don't send her my way When it hurts you'll know it's the right thing"

For me, this means that even though both of us want to speak to each other and try to hold on to something like we used to have, even if it's something as small as sending out a text to him asking him how he is, we can't. We can't because it means coming back to that "Michigan" I left behind, and not ever entirely moving on.

I miss him more than anything, but I know I made the right choice. I only hope he can know that I love him so much and that I'm so terribly sorry I hurt him like I did.

What a beautiful beautiful song. A song hasn't hit me this hard in a long, long time.

My Interpretation

Why did you have to leave him?

Just had to leave a small reply to say how much I relate to what you're going through right now.

I wish I was past this.

@melissak I love this song.. hit me on the way in to work today even though I've heard it a million times. Going through a split is painful and deep.. but that's how you know it is what needs done... the spirit needs to be free.
