Each girl is from a childhood story, Alice in wonderland, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, and Wendy from Peter Pan. I think he's pointing out that childhood stories and imagination are seen as dangerous in an Adult by our society. Or commenting on the context of these stories, saying if you think about it, these stories we tell our kids are actually pretty fucked up.
@DrWormBoy absolutely right. The girls in the asylum represent characters from the children’s stories. I agree that it shows how messed up the stories are, and as adults in real life, the 3 characters would be considered completely mentally unstable. I can’t help but wonder if there’s a deeper meaning even behind that though. I feel like there’s something deeper I’m missing every time I hear it, but I can’t figure out what it is, and what else pip was trying say…definitely something missing though.
