Glory Lyrics

Agghh! You guys! Obviously the whole album was a retort. That was the whole point of the album!

However, this very sweet, simple song is about a young girl in a club or bar. She doesn't belong there. She's met an older guy. He likely thinks she's older but can see she's innocent, too. She is swept up in making out with this hot, older guy. They're just having fun. Til he scratches his face with his stubble at 1am and she realizes just how old he is, and how he's likely done this with every new face that walks in. He's 'shining some glory' by teaching her something new, whether it be this new experience for a young girl in a club, or that looks can be deceiving and it's all a part of growing up.

This song is so short and to the point. It's hard to interpret it as anything else.

@swinginbecky this is how I've always heard Glory too! The singer is making out with a guy who 'should' be hot stuff by all standards. But she's realizing in the moment that it makes her feel dirty and unsexy.

"You are shining some glory on me" is her attempting rationalize to herself why she isn't leaving the spot. She sings those lines with mix of desperation and defeat, like she feels trapped in the moment but still wants to feel it was a good choice (even if it ultimately is a mistake to be hooking up with this man)....
