Sounds to me like the song is about suicide. The girl obviously died as implied by lines like "your face is like winter and you eyes seem so dry." "Wonderland's fading" also seems to be saying the world is fading around her as if drifting off to sleep. "A man to gently say how wonderful she used to be" sounds like a eulogy. I guess it never specifies suicide, I just assumed from the mental illness references that she did.
