This song is strangely alluring. My take is that relations with groupies are worthless...there's no feeling, they are just going through the motions. I think Rick is actually trying to humanize the groupie. He knows they must feel something. Then he decides that there are many more just like this one. He feels sad wasting his time on empty "relationships."
