Love this song because i can relate to a lot of what he's saying in the lyrics. Grew up like he did in the song minus a few things(father didn't leave us), but we were poor. Really poor. Of course, I didn't really understand how poor we were until I got older.
I remember the roaches in the cereal box(Gross I know but it is what it is), running out of food, eating grits for a meal, classmates laughing, sugar water, depending on free lunches, taking a note to my mother's friend asking for food.
Song should definitely have more comments because I'm sure a lot of us can relate. The sad thing is, I think a lot of people, when they get older and become well off, forget the times like these growing up.
