I lost my Dad to cancer one week ago. The song reminds me of how important my father was to me and I to him. He was only 65 and I'm only 31. Its the hardest thing losing him, but when I hear this song I get choked up in a good way. I'm sad his time was short, but it was an awesome 31 years I got to spend with him. There were times partying was way more imortant than family and I didn't spend the time with him he wanted. I also battled alcoholism, but was able to be sober for the last 2 years we had together. When I hear the opening lyrics I just lose it. But in the end I know he still walks with me every day in my heart. Fucking great song.
I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm happy you have this song as a support.
I lost my dad as well he was only 50, I'm 22 now.
I have Acid Rain and This means War that pull me through, don't know how.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers go out to you. I know how you feel when you regret partying instead of spending time with family. We all do it my friend. Your father knows how you feel, but he doesn't want you to think of him and regret the decisions you've made. He wants you to remember the great times you've spent together, and nothing more. I'm glad you have an Avenged Sevenfold song to help you through your heartbreak. Battling depression, I've had the last song James Sullivan...

Battling depression, I've had the last song James Sullivan wrote, "Fiction", to help me through the worst times when I was barely holding on. He went through it too, so hearing my thoughts as someone else's words in a song has helped me to pull through countless times. Be strong my friend.
