for me this song its about the same of burden, hex omega and coil, its about the suicide of an mikael's ex girlfriend, in watershed is very clear and mikael alredy has confirm this.... but here is more difficult but i get this idea from the lines :

they lived on separated places when mikael hear about the death of this women(ex), for me this is how he felt when he heard about her dead
