Pretty obvious meaning: the platitudes and songs about how your school years are the best years of your life are just plain wrong. The smart kids who weren't cool in high school are the ones who wind up with successful, happy lives after high school, and anyone who thinks high school was the best is probably pretty lame & pathetic as an adult. Makes me think of Randy Floyd in Dazed and Confused, who says, " “If these are the best years of my life, remind me to kill myself.”
