I think he is singing about his parents trying to bring him down when it comes to his music. perhaps they disproved of the direction he was going.

they are telling him he will be nothing, and he has started to believe it a little.
"We'll sharpen your teeth. Tell yourself that it's just business."
His parents know that this is what he wants, but they are not giving in because they think this is what is best for him.
