I feel like this song was probably a dig at record executives of the time. When this was released in 1992, the thrash/hair metal era was dying out and being replaced by the early alternative rock bands. A lot of this had to do with market saturation - so many crap bands were getting signed to major labels that wanted to milk every last dollar from the popularity of hair metal and thrash that anyone with long hair could get signed. Many of those label execs didn't give a rats ass about the bands, as long as they made money.
