This song seems to serve as a reminder that amongst the chaos of everyday, our lives keep moving. The seasons change.

The first half reads as a record of a youth's wild summers when everything moved fast and each day was a cinematic adventure.

As the song progresses, he presumably gets older, talking about marriage, and the song takes a desperate turn. The seasons keep changing, but it's moving too fast, and the things that should change, don't. We run out of time, we miss opportunities. We begin to see the changing seasons as a way to procrastinate, or push back responsibilities/goals.

The song also progressively picks up pace. The first half feels hopeful about the future while the second half has the urgency of someone who thinks they're running out of time.

My Interpretation

Excellent interpretation. The groom & bride at the end are a little ambiguous - perhaps his own kids repeating his mistakes? & here's a song where the crescendo of the entire thing is actually matched by the urgency of the lyrics. Fantastic track.
