Personally to me, this song is about being human and acknowledging/embracing the notion that you were meant to live life.

The "God is ready, when you're ready, but you don't want it" can be interpreted as 'when you're ready to be saved, God is there, but then again you'd like to live life first'. And should you be ready, "When we want it, we just ask it."

In the bigger picture, you're tired of religions' effects on society and would rather live life without worrying about whether or not your soul is saved or not (we don't need no truth got plenty now it grows on trees/ glad it's not a race, i'd lose) , also not worrying about if your actions are saintly or sinful (no saint or sinner done more dirt, nor do more right). You're just living (find a paradise for me) because in the end "Heaven's waiting."
