I haven't been able to figure out all of the story snippets spoken at the beginning of the song yet, but I'll try to update when I've got that all sorted!

When I was looking up the definition of "flyweight," I found this on Wikipedia:

"In computer programming, flyweight is a software design pattern. A flyweight is an object that minimizes memory use by sharing as much data as possible with other similar objects; it is a way to use objects in large numbers when a simple repeated representation would use an unacceptable amount of memory. Often some parts of the object state can be shared, and it is common practice to hold them in external data structures and pass them to the flyweight objects temporarily when they are used."

This seems really fitting with the last couple of lines - "Oh, you never have belonged to me, or should I say not to me alone." It seems like this "flyweight love" is someone who needs the freedom to fulfill different needs with different people, so although their time together was treasured, there was always the background knowledge that she wasn't everything he needed.

My Interpretation

While I saw the basic meaning, as far as it being two people in love but living their own separate lives at the same time, I never picked up on that meaning to "flyweight"...that's pretty great!
