i think it is about life, death, reincarnation, organ transplant and freedom of the soul.
broken people get recycled -
if you are dead, and it is possible you still can do so much GOOD, letting others have a longer or better life with the organs that you no longer need.
and i hope that i will -
i think that Katie Melua hopes that if the moment should come that when she is dead, that even in death, she would be able to add some good to others lifes.
what we own becomes our prison -
when you are very old or very ill, your body (what we "own" ) does not do what the soul/the mind WANTS it to do. so it becomes our prison that prevents us to be free.
my possesions will be gone, back to where they came from -
this CAN mean real possesions. things. because when you have died, you can not take them with you.
but it can ALSO mean: your body will go away. burried. or burned. ashes to ashes. dust to dust.
see the rock that you hold on to, is it gonna save you ... -
the rock...your body, when old or sick, is nothing more than a burdon.
still...even the very sick hold on to it, because they are afraid to die.
why do you feel you have to hold on...imagine if you let GO...-
imagine...the weight of that sick body gone...
imagine the freedom when the spirit is free to fly. no more pain. no more sickness.
no more sadness. because sadness is for the ones that are alive.
they do not see the whole picture.
a soul CAN see the whole picture. so they know, there is so much more than 'just' life.
if you listen carefully...there is the sound of a heart beating in this song.
and if you notice you will find that at the end, the beating slows down...and stops...even before the song is finished fully.
in my opinion, that is the life that has stopped...
the soul that has let go of an disfunctioning body...
a soul that has chosen freedom...is soaring in the sky, full of light and joy...
free...to be born again in a next life. a young life.
with new possibilities, new chalenges, new lessons, new chances.
and in a way...reincarnation is ALSO a way of 'recycling'

a soul...that has been freed from his old or sick body...now free to be NEW again.
