There are so many things that come to mind when I listen to this song and to Voyage (album) in general.
Voyage is all about having hope, re-living moments, holding onto something you still believe can happen. Heal your wounds through music.
This song is something only a hopeless romantic couild have written and here is my interpretation:
The first verse make me believe that he is reuniting with that special someone who had a previous relationship/stong connecting with in the past... Something happenede, and they are no longer together.. but the one telling this story, really wants to try to make it work this time.

it makes me believe that the special someone is the one that ended everything. And now, the singer is asking him to give it a shot and try to make him feel the way he used to make him feel "back when you were mine*.
