Open question?
From the song's lyric's what can be considered his motivation in leaving/ staying away from home? I can see two sections which depict aspects of his emotions toward home.
"And you can label him another problem typecast
And stay the hell away from him like everybody else has
And that's exactly why he flees to the road"
"Daddy was a rolling stone
Mama never gave two shits about a broken home"
In this I find the potential for a contradiction.
Is it that he's early home life scarred him so much that contact with the world around him invokes anger/ aggression.
"Nother notch in the war club he keeps in his soul"
Or, is it that he enjoys being the outsider under the hoody, a vagrant of broken origins. I lean to the former but what to hear what you might think. These are only my feelings. Either way I love this song and appreciate Grieves dedication to his craft.
