He still loves her but he left her because they both were just hurting each other
but after he broke up with her regret it --> " i know i made a mistake (Leaving her ) now it's too late (he knows she won't come back) "
and now he feels desperate because one side of him tells him to let her go because they can't work things out but the other side of him can't stand being apart from her cos' he loves her endlessly and it tears him apart imagine her with another guy
And eventhough he is with someone new all he really wants is to be with her cos' no one can replace her
