perhaps it's a comment on how we want what we can't have, what doesn't work, or what isn't good for us. We set ourselves up for the impossible instead of appreciating and enjoying all the good around us. There is a challenge in it. and a lot of self-sabotage.
and then again, lots of songs start with an idea and end up obscure with words that are just interesting but don't necessarily mean a lot. The music is great.
