Sounds like a song about a love that has ended. The singer chose to go his own path in life which didn't include the girl and while he remembers her fondly and misses what their relationship and her company gave him, he lives for the moment and is trying to find himself and move on. Sometimes people just have to go their separate ways and its nobody's fault.
Of course he adds the part about maybe marrying her in some other time. I like that section because it's very real and honest. I bet most people think about the "what ifs" regarding past relationships and wondering if they made the right choice to end things.
This song really hits a chord with me. I feel like everyone has been there or will be in a situation like this at some point in their lives.
@SSeale Great job! He actually admitted this in an interview I read.

It's also called "Paint" because he painted something on his house for his exgirlfriend with what he thought was invisible paint but turned out to not be. He left it on there even after they broke up. At the end, he's finally got around to painting over it but still finds it difficult because that relationship still means a lot to him.
