This one is just poetic as all hell. There are more than a few songs out there that deal with supportiveness -- "Here" by Pet Shop Boys is a personal favorite -- but few that go here: "Don't mistake my charity / For what it is / A deep need to be needed / Necessary." She's reminding us that it's just as mutually destructive not to accept love when we need it as it is not to offer it when we can, because that need is not a one-way street.
