Perhaps the reason this wasn't included on the "Playing the Angel" album is because it isn't really suitable for the -pain-suffering- themes. Rather, it's optimistic in its effect and is along the same lines as metamorphosis. A human is consciously aware of his or her surroundings and can come in terms with lightness, to see and define qualities that were unnoticeable before. It speaks of change in a great way - and as such could be used to help foster a friendship with someone else who recognizes those qualities of change for better. Because humans need each other, even the introverted ones, there is a connection between those two -friendship, relationship- ect and it's is actually a great thing. It's like the lion watching over its cubs. It's romantic, but it's also survival.
