It's kind of a poorly researched song. Christians recognize angels as transcendent entities. We don't "become" them after we die. This misconception comes from artist depictions of people "gaining their wings". Angels don't have wings. What purpose would "wings" serve for a being that transcended the universe?
Would you say people who deny Jesus Christ "become" demons after they die. lol. Of course not. The idea of becoming an angel is as nonsensicle as becoming a bird or a snail. They're wholly different entities.
On a side note, this song seems to be about fear of transcending. Fear of leaving earth.
