I am fairly certain of my views on this song:

Anthony is once again expressing his struggles with religion and trusting God.

"When the mirror shatters it’s harder for me to see If there are any answers here we haven’t searched for,"

-he is having trouble with God not being there for him and he has exhausted all effort in looking for an answer to his problem.

"Just type in your code and say a prayer How could it be, we were so secure? cause nothing you’ve ever planned on ever turned out the way you planned"

Everyone else is doing the same, typing in their prayers that seem to go unnoticed. He doesnt understand why something like death has happened to him or his family when everything was perfect. The last two lines explain that all of his prayers and 'plans' were unanswered.

"I tried to say This couldn’t feel more wrong I can’t believe its happening or lasting this long If we know each other then why should it be so hard to make it stop?"

this part is slightly confusing, but IMO i think he means it couldnt feel more wrong that God did this to him and that he has continuously treated him as so for so long. His strong belief in God beforehand was so strong he doesnt understand why God will not stop.

"(this isn’t real, and I feel ashamed that I don’t think that I can heal) It’s a shame that I would pretend before making amends But nothing you’ve ever planned on ever turned out the way you planned You’re still disappointing them."

he says that his beliefs are no longer real and he feels terrible that he can not go back. He feels so strongly now that he would even pretend before giving God another chance. He then reinforced that nothing you ever pray for is answered the way you wanted it to be and that God has once again disappointed you (them).

I am a christian and love this song and still support anthony's views. I am not sure if since this album was created, if the birth of his son's has given him new hope in God, but i hope it has.
