I think this song basically mean that someone cannot let someone they once loved go and are so upset of the fact that person has left them. They can't seem to let go all the memories and objects that are still with them. If they still love them than they'd keep everything until the feelings disconnect from them and that's when they're able to let them go. It goes on saying that if they don't find anyone better than them than they will take them back in an instant. It also goes on to say what many people say when they break up with someone..
