I love this song, but I was a bit puzzled by the phrasing "like YOU were a grade 8."
As an American my best guess at what he was getting at was saying she made him feel like a love struck teenager/pre-teen again. But then it should be something like "like WE were IN grade 8."
I had a feeling it was some British term, so I googled it, apparently in the UK music exams are graded on a scale from 1 to 8, 8 being the best, and whats required to enter a music college. Really a much more awesome analogy than I originally thought.
