It's about that feeling where you love someone so much, and then all of the sudden they aren't apart of your life anymore, and soon you don't think about them at all. This is a good thing, because you've moved past the pain of a broken heart, but it's also very sad, because that love didn't survive. The tone makes me think this song is all about the sad part. You don't wanna be in pain anymore but you wish it just could've worked out in the beginning.
