This is my favorite song by Daughtry and the video is amazing. My view of the song is that you are in a relationship with someone and it didn't turn out the way you thought it would. You can't leave that person because you pray that it will get better but even years later it's the same. Then out of the blue someone comes into your life that changes your views of love. You try not to get too close because your current relationship is still there and your not sure how the new person in your life feels. There is also the issue of not wanting the same things to happen that you have sustained in your long term relationship. Sometimes it's best that your new flame is close and will be there if you need them when times are tough.
