I think this song is basically about someone desperately trying to become famous and how he is losing touch with the 'real world' (the one he loves) because he sacrificed her for fame. In the beginning of the song Vic says 'it's like a long drag taken before the smoke hits the white sky, like the birds at night' I think here he is saying how fame doesn't last, as when smoke hits white sky it blends in and you can't see it anymore and also, you can barely see birds at night. Near the end he also begins to give up on fame 'if you don't find me at all, then I, won't care' (love this song) ;D Hope this helped
