To me, this is like the theme song of adolescence (except girls aren't gentlemen, but you get the point) He's saying he can't see how you can live being a teen and parents seem to throw you around and dictate you. He feels despondent and powerless like oh so many teens, and he has such a hard time believing in what his parents say.
