once again kasper Eistrup impresses with his craftsmanship in writing. kasper has some sort of avertion to urban and suburban. for him the city equals degeneration and filth, but the suburbs are really no different. in a way they are worse, seeing as they cover up their secrets (think lampshade for example). under the pristine gardens the same worms gnaw at the innocents flowers. in a sense Eistrup betrays a very traditional conception of gender. The girl and woman are the innocents being corrupted by powerful, but also and for that reason sad and pitiable men (think make it grand). the girls glow with love but the men slowly drain them and they end up woman both eager and dead. in this case the woman is eager for comfort and intimacy but also dead tired and worn out, not having enough mental ressources to make realize her dreams. but intimacy has been replaced by alcohol and sleep at 5, and ocationally the extramarital affair. this is what the line of 200 lovers refers to. this mentality this way of life is unstable and it seems the people are aware of it themselves. they scan the headlines looking for the revolution. maybe looking for the reflection of the fire they themselves have started by leaving their coals behind with closed eyes. they feel safe behind their bush with the new gold and can watch the grim reaper's trail of destruction from afar.
