For me this song has always just been about him telling an ex that he's moved on and maybe its hard for her to accept that he's moved on maybe it was her who broke up with him so he kind of doesnt really feel sorry for her so he says "you should go back to cliches, like i should kill myself or i should loose some weight" but in the end he doesnt really care cuz she'd "feel the same either way"
