At the beginning she seems to be giving life lessons: “ease your soul” is something that many of should try to listen to as well as “take good pride in what you had” and writing a note at the back of our hand could be many times useful. But when she sings: “the day is done; the day is gone, again”, she clearly seems to be talking about routine. Maybe when she means that routine made her a ghost, meaning that she isn't relaly living but just repeating actions
