My general interpretation of this song was that it was a relationship that you know won't last because you and that person are not right for each other, but you pretend to be in the meantime because it feels great. It sounds like this person is just a temporary lover.
"White lies in the night"- you tell each other little white lies about being together even though you both know it won't last. Or maybe one person is telling the lies, leading the other person on yet they are on to it.
