I have read a lot of comments about this song saying the song is about a prostitute named Rosie, i don't doubt it, maybe the person who wrote it had the intention to have that meaning but for me it's different.
For me, this song is about a guy who really wants to be with this girl but she doesn't care about him, she gives him mixed signals, she sometimes says "yes" to him and later she says "no"
Like when you like someone and she's giving you all the signals that she wants to be with you but in reality she does not wants to be with you. A girl who likes to have people dying to be with her and that's why she gives those mixed signals

Here, we can see that she does care about him, but she's not ready and he is willing to wait for her.

For me, this part is about the guy wanting her to show her friends that he actually is going out with her, but she ignores him, she doesn't want her friends to know about them (because, as i said before, she wants everyone to die for her and if she says something about this guy this may scare the other guys away)
And as we can see, the guys knows it, and feels ashamed that he's there even though she's playing with him.
