Black Sheep Lyrics

The one considered the "Black Sheep" of the family in John Anderson's well sung hit from '83 is the really credit to his family. NOT the rich doctor older brother of his who makes millions off the medical insurance plans of those lucky enough to even have insurance. Nor is his whore of a sister who married the mega-rich banker owning the country club and Japanese yacht.

The only one who truly learned the lessons of his honorable father the "highball train" brakeman is the singer touting his "black sheep" reputation. Has a simple, respectable life driving a truck, supporting his kids and an understanding (very rare) wife. Promotes good values in their children by suggesting prayer and religion. Plus he's kind to animals like his dogs.

I'd say he's the winner! Not the rich bastard brother who could have shared his money with his little brother and his back breaking job. Nor his (again) whore of a sister who is only interested in the banker for his money.

The singer put family and integrity above money. All this coming from another "black sheep" of my own family. Values first! Money is only paper which easily corrupts relationships.

I am glad to see Anderson singing with Colt Ford these days too!
