I believe this song is an allusion to when Jesus said, "So if your eye--even your good eye--causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell." -Matthew 5:29

Before I tear, tear out my eyes I'll just admit they're part of me

He's recognizing that his eyes are causing him to sin through lust, and he realizes it would be best to tear them out so he will no longer sin. But instead of tearing his eyes out, he's going to admit and accept that he has eyes and that he is sinning with them through lust. This becomes apparent during the verse where he says:

So now I know what it means to repent Changing everything

This verse is very interesting to me

I mourn the days that I wasted Trying to change what has been set Fighting against myself

I interpret this verse to mean trying to find ways why lust is ok. Trying to find reasons and excuses why thinking sexual thoughts of multiple women when not married is acceptable and a gift from God. That viewing porn is perfectly normal and ok to do. But thinking those thoughts is really fighting against your true self, your soul. Premarital sexual thoughts and lust towards many women will bring death and are mere carnal pleasures, but keeping your thoughts on God and in the spirit will bring heavenly pleasure and everlasting life!

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. - Philippians 4:8

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23

Amazing stuff! This album is absolutely phenomenal. I love AILD! Obiviously Tim may have not meant this at all, but this is what I got out of it. I believe this is only a partial meaning to the song. It is also about choosing friends wisely, and being aware of people who really appreciate/need you in there life. You da man Tim Lambesis. Praise God!

My Interpretation
