Love this song. The vibe I get from the lyrics is that Emma is singing about a girl who is attracted to her boyfriend. Perhaps the girl was an ex ("And fear on lips my guns are held, to the skin he felt and hands she held"). It's like this girl keeps flirting or hitting on him, and spending time with him and the singer feels threatened ("eyes off of my love / you know I'm not a fighter"). She's trying to tell the girl to back off ("keep the skin under your dress, it's only yours to play with" (ie not his to play with)).
It resonates with me particularly because a good friend of mine's boyfriend has been spending a lot of time with his ex, and his ex seems to keep trying to push her way in. It's frustrating because my friend deserves so much better and her boyfriend is completely oblivious.
Hard to say what Emma was going for when she wrote this song.
