It's quite obvious that this song is to reflect upon a person's death. In the first verse, the listener can imagine the guy finding a close person bleeding and about to die, screaming, "Wake up!" He cleans up the blood on his hands so he can call for help. Then it simply sings about the ambulance coming and going to the hospital. Now, my favorite lyric is "Suits were made for men not boys." Now, in my opinion, this is conveying the fact that men usually wear suits to funerals. By saying suits were made for men not boys, he's saying that he's too young to wear a suit, also saying that he's too young for the person's death to happen. I think the chorus is exemplifying that he doesn't want to go to the hospital if it means that the person is going to die. He doesn't want to remember the last moment with the person as him going to the hospital to officially know her passing. The second verse reflects the part where they are waiting in the hospital. He's having panics from worrying about what might happen, and he's referring to the "moment" as the part where you have to accept they're dead. "When it runs you over" can also be a small reference to mention that the accident could've been a car crash. He can't accept what just happened, so it says "no one say it's over", and "no one's safe, I need her" can refer to how he's going to lash out on anybody who tries to explain to him that it might as well be over. This is a beautiful and simple song that just shows the whole story of what he had to go through when an accident happened.

Song Meaning

Your meaning is perfect but what I think they mean by it runs you over is like it hit them that the person died.

It sounds a lot like it was his mother that died. "There's some blood around her." The next couple lines are him trying to calm himself in denial of his mothers grave situation. The lines "Hold my brother's hand/And I'm his mothers stand-in" further exemplify this. He is now the mother figure for his little brother after her death. He realizes this, and begins to panic, as he realizes that he is unable to fill her shoes.
