This song is about the fighting between Ungoliant and Morgoth after they got out from the striding ice (The SIlmarillion, a Tolkien's book). Morgoth had promise Ungoliant everything she wanted to eat, in exchange for her help, but in the end refuse to give her the Silmarils.
The parts are from the points of view of Ungoliant, then Morgoth, than maybe from the Balrogs that come to save him from the big spider, since she was owning him, not sure about that. Thank Ungoliant, Morgoth, Balrogs (?), Ungoliant.
On their way to the middle-earth they destroyed Laurelin and Telperion, the two sacred trees (this is described in Nightfall), killed Finwe, and after that we have the curse of Feanor, in the omonimous song.
Ungoliant did not die, by the way, just escaped further south.
