Right I've been listening to this song over an over all weekend and I believe it to be all about the dangers of playing games on mobile devices.
The song is hung around the central motif of the now long forgotten Nokia 6210 'default' game Snake. We have pawns and queens from online chess and a lot of laying in bed, the place where most mobile games are played. Basically the track depicts a mans path to mobile phone game dependancy.
The song deals with themes of lost time and giving into playing games on your phone- are those birds on telephone wires? a metaphor for twitter? or even angry birds the most popular mobile game around.
I think cell phone game dependency is a bit of a stretch. I would agree that (X) form of dependency would be on the right paths but......idk man, about the game dependency. Did you ever have a game dependency?

Your amusing (and facetitious, I'm assuming?) interpretation would be almost convincing... except the actual lyric is "snares and my nets" not "snakes on my head".

Just checked it and yes you are right. Got a little carried away on the snake angle. Bit disappointed now. I'll probably still sing it to myself as snake to be honest, it wont do anyone any harm and it meant more to me that way. I actually thought the opening line of Lotus Flower was ' I will shit myself into your pocket' for a good month and I'm not even lying man.

And no, I meant facetitious* in my earlier comment... I wrongly assumed you must having a laugh with your interpretation, so pease forgive. me. I DO believe that's what you heard in Lotus Flower though, haha. Thom is notoriously inarticulate sometimes - intentionally or otherwise - and for my part I thought the opening line of Feral was: "You there... get up off your arse." :D

Think about it.

Yes. The more and more I think about it the more and more convinced I am that this song directly depicts my life.
