This is a very old song, so I am finding difficult to belive that the word "freak" was used in the original lyrics: "And if you make it on a bleak day, A freak day, a week day, why you can be my guest." Bleak does rhyme with freak, but freak was not big on the vocabulary list of that day. Hmmmm...gotta research that one. Anyway, it's a cute song, and not deep enough to explain. I tolerated Lawrence and his TV show for years (and every New Years Eve) due to my parents. The only way to make it enjoyable was picking out the most handsome guy and the most beuatiful girl from every show and wondering if they dated. There were almost always two married couples on the show (regulars), so hoping to grow up and be them (happily married singers) was a typical childhood fantasy. Heck, it beat all that "champagne music" I had to suffer through each night.
