Wonderful song, a classic. Not too many songs about aging, are there? I am reminded of ABBA's "Slipping Thru My Fingers", about watching our children grow up, so quickly. Ian Tyson's old song, "Friends of Mine": These friends of mine, they never cared about tomorrow, it was too early in the game.

In the first verse, we see a woman running out of time to have children. Then in the second verse, the subject changes slightly to aging in general, looking at our parents to see what awaits us. Yes, time is growing short for us all. Finally, the subject morphs yet again, this time to running out of time to find love, but with a happy ending. Such a thoughtful song.

Yes, we all are given only a short space of time here on earth, even though in our youth it seems almost unlimited. So, consider why you are here!
