I'd also say they wanted to keep first entities darker, since they're trying to hurt Sirus, until Evagria comes in and saves him, then Sentry helps Evagria in fighting off the other entities. So unless Carol Ann was somehow harmful to Sirus I don't think she fits well into the storyline. If anything she would've taken Evagria's place.
