Bang Bang Bang Lyrics

I think the song is about people who are shooting as a result of injustice (real or perceived.)

People were told they should count to calm themselves down in times of extreme anger (un, deux, trois). They say 'no one ever does it like that anymore. Bang, bang, bang. When feathers fly you deny everything.' People are not counting, THEY'RE SHOOTING!

I think the song points to the fact that with increasing violence, dissatisfaction, and increasing awareness, there will be no way to shield oneself 'with molting feathers."

Molting is a process in which birds shed their feathers. It must be warm when this process takes place because feathers protect birds from the cold ('It's a cruel, cruel world'). Again, MNDR has said she was plucking the feathers. This means the birds were not ready and they will suffer when the truth is revealed (plucked feathers/lies shed=birds exposed to the cold/truth revealed) The "birds" will not voluntarily shed their insulating feathers. So, she will pluck them to expose the truth. Their feathers can be considered lies in this case.

The fact of the matter is that every time one of these incidents take place, the perpetrator is identified as the problem, when they are really a sensitive and volatile symptom of a greater issue.
