Hi, my name is Pat Burton, female, age 59. This song came out on 45rpm Jan. 15, 1969. Originally wrote by Scott Davis aka singer Mac Davis. At the time it came out, my mom was divorcing my Daddy for someone else that could keep her in the lifestyle she grew up in, more than my Daddy could afford with 4 kids, that is. I remember Daddy taking me to a restaurant where they had these mini jukeboxes at each table for your own individual music.....used to bug my Daddy to death for nickels to play music while waiting for the food. This song came on out of nowhere today on internet radio 96.5 JACK FM, I was blown away back to 1969 again, & I cried. So, here's the scoop, just found some more info. on it through Wikipedia for anyone that's interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Cry_Daddy

IN ADDENDUM I FORGOT TO ADD TO THIS? In 1997 Lisa Marie Presley made a video of Don't Cry Daddy, where she sings it as a duet with her dad. This video was presented on August 16, 1997, at the tribute concert that marked the 20th anniversary of Elvis' death. The video has Elvis' original vocal to which new instrumentation and Lisa Marie's vocals were added. The recording was not for commercial use.
