wonderful pro-life song. If a bird's fertized egg contains a life, certainly a human's fertilized egg is life also! (sorry libs, I know you want to maintain the right to crush this egg, so go ahead and crush it and then edit the song properly please). 'A person's a person, no matter how small'...

The mother flew too late And life within the egg was left to fate scientists Not really knowing how The world outside would take it when it came And life's the same

Oh my God, who is this commenter... yeah, I'm sure Jon Anderson really wrote a song about those who are pro-life until birth .

@groovyman7 This song doesn't sound like its about abortion at all... It sounds more like its about how people feel abandoned in life, but they are really worth something. Don't give up on your life and where you're going. Even though good things come to an end, there are always new beginnings. Actually, it could almost be interpreted as a song for someone who has had a miscarriage as well.

@groovyman7 Actually, I\'m a pro life lib, we do exist :D I too have interpreted this song as a pro life song; in fact I did even when I was a teen and still associated with "pro-choice" movements. It wasn\'t until I became pregnant out of wedlock at 18 with a man who denied paternity and skipped town that I listened to the song again, wept and decided resolutely that this little bird was going to make it.
