I actually think the song is being sarcastic. I believe it is about someone who has lost faith in god and believes him to be just as evil as the devil.
It irks me when I get burned

This could be what brought the person to lose faith or go against god or his faith.
The first 2 lines are about his previous experiences with confessions perhaps. He feels as though he's doing nothing wrong(And i realize i don't get hurt) yet he's shunned or "burned" for it, forcing him to believe what he's done is wrong.

"And i notice" possibly believes he's using seasonal change as a metaphor saying things need to change.
